The 250th Anniversary of Partick St. Mary’s Lodge 117

The Lodge’s Bicenquinquagenary or 250th Anniversary was on Friday 29th March 2019.

The Civic Dinner

The Civic Dinner hosted by Glasgow District Council to Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Partick Saint Mary’s Lodge, which was held on Friday 12th April 2019 within the City Chambers.
A total of 137 Brethren and their Partners attended this Special Event.The Lodge Piper who had previously welcomed the Guests in the Foyer of the City Chambers then piped all to Dinner and then piped the top Table The Master , and guests. Several toasts where raised to Partick Saint Mary’s Lodge on reaching this famous milestone in the history of the Lodge andfor serving the Community of Partick and this great city of Glasgow since 1769 . The Master, thanked Glasgow District Council for affording Partick Saint Mary’s Lodge this great honour and within this great Building with it’s fantastic architecture and wonderful marble staircase. Then the Master presented a Cheque for £500.00 towards the Lord Provost Children’s Fund.
The Menu was Roast Red Pepper, Basil and Tomato Soup. Ale Braised shin of Beef, Dauphinoise Potato, Panache of Vegetables. Sticky Toffee Pudding with a Rich Toffee Sauce, Basket of Vanilla Ice Cream and Macerated Forest Berries. Tea, Coffee, and Butter Shortbread. The Meal was served with Red and White wine and later Liqueurs. At the close of the Banquet all thanked Partick Saint Mary’s Lodge for the Invitation and Glasgow District Council for the Fantastic hospitality shown by them in creating such a memorable event.

The Divine Service

The Divine Service of Thanksgiving commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Partick Saint Mary’s Lodge was held on Sunday 7th April 2019 within Partick South Parish Church, Dumbarton Road, Partick.
A total of 63 Brethren attended this include the Provincial Grand Master of Glasgow along with a Large deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge. The Reverent welcomed the Brethren and Friends to Partick South Parish Church on this very Special Occasion.The Service began with the singing of Hymn “Courage Brother Do Not Stumble” thena prayer followed by the Lords Prayer. The Hymn “Guide Me Oh’ Thou Great Jehovah” was sung and the Master read from Psalm 37, Verses1-9, which was followed by the singing of Hymn “Glory Be To God The Father”. The Reverent then delivered a very thoughtful Sermon. The piper then played The Pipers Lament for Absent Brethren. The Offering was uplifted. Our closing Hymn was “Will Your Anchor Hold” after which the Benediction was given and the Reverent invited all to partake of some tea, coffee and sandwiches in the Small Hall. On Closing the Service the National Anthemwas sung. In the Master, thanked Partick South Parish Church for allowing us to attend, the Organist for enhancing the Service with the music, the catering people for the Sandwiches, tea and coffee. The Master then presented the Reverent with a Cheque for £300.00 for the Lodging House Mission.
